How Does It Work?

As a business owner, you are legally permitted to offset processing costs by providing a discount to cash-paying customers.

This program can be run in two ways:

Cash Discount 1.0: Current pricing remains the same, and clients who pay with a credit or debit card at the time of invoicing, will be charged a 4% fee.

Cash Discount 2.0: Raise all your prices by 4%, and clients who pay with cash, ACH, or check will receive a 4% discount! Compared to adding a surcharge fee, giving cash discounts works best, since it’s more focused on rewarding cash-paying customers rather than penalizing credit card users. 

Is It Legal?

Giving cash discounts is legal in all 50 states. You must post signs detailing the cash discount scheme and payment alternatives in your store. Receipts must reflect all fees and discounts. In client receipts, the product’s base cost must be included.
